Janice Connolly

Performing as a headline act on the comedy circuit across the UK, Janice Connolly has lived in King’s Heath for over 20 years. Spotted by Peter Kay performing as Mrs Barbara Nice at the finals of the Manchester Evening News New Act of the Year in 1998 she went on to perform in several of his TV shows appearing as Holy Mary in Phoenix Nights and Mrs Bamforth in That Peter Kay Thing. She has also appeared as an actress in Coronation Street and is the Artistic Director for Women in Theatre.

What may be less well known is Janice’s past in punk bands as part of the Birmingham independent music scene in late 70s and early 80s. Janice was part of "The Surprises" and "The Evereadies" playing regularly in Moseley at the Fighting Cocks. Singles championed by John Peel included "Jeremy Thorpe is Innocent" and "Martian Girlfriend”!
